Anna and Emmy joined us for a conversation about creating characters and stories that feel culturally specific, authentic, and multidimensional. We talked about avoiding stereotypes, the importance of representation behind the scenes, approaching stories outside of our own lived experiences with curiosity and intention, and why specificity can often make a story feel even more universal.

Dawn and Isabel gave us a look at two different corners of the television landscape: traditional TV and vertical series.
We discussed what makes a pilot feel like the beginning of a compelling series, how vertical stories need to hook audiences quickly, what writers should communicate when pitching, how pitching differs between the two formats, and where they’re seeing opportunities for writers right now.

Women Writers Breaking In: Horror & Holiday
Tracee and Lisa shared their experiences building careers as working screenwriters and reminded us that there is no single path into the industry. We talked about writing across genres, navigating career pivots, building relationships, staying persistent through uncertainty, creating your own opportunities, and continuing to write while building a sustainable creative career.
